Frédéric Lenoir
"We are constantly preoccupied, we are constantly stressed. Life is short, it passes very quickly. I truly invite you to try to take the time to savor moments of happiness, pleasures that can occur every day, offered to you for free. You don't need to spend a fortune to have fun; it's given every day. Simply put, you need to know how to look at it, appreciate it, savor it, and many people don't do that because they are always thinking about something else; they are preoccupied with a negative outlook.
You know that spontaneously we remember more of the negative than the positive. It's encoded in our genes. Because when we were cavemen, it was better to remember the dangers. When you enter a cave for the first time and get your arm eaten by a bear, you need to remember it because the second time you will take precautions before entering a cave. So, our archaic, reptilian brain has learned to memorize all the problems to make sure they don't happen again, and we continue with our mind memorizing all the problems.
As a result, spontaneously, we remember everything that is wrong. When we fall asleep at night, we fall asleep with worries, ruminating over everything that didn't go well during the day. And we sleep very poorly! Well, let's do the opposite, the philosophical conversion is not to be driven by our reptilian brain, but consciously to perform an act where we decide to memorize the positive things in our life.
It starts by being aware of every pleasant moment; when you drink a glass of water, drink it consciously, and as a result, it's extremely pleasant to be aware of all these positive moments. And in the evening before falling asleep, consciously remember the best moments of the day, and you will sleep much better! And this is related to an inner conversion; we decide to have a positive, constructive outlook on life, not just being in the rumination of everything that is wrong.
What needs to change is not the external world;
What needs to change is our perspective on the world."
